The Cowboy

The echo of the American West still rings to this day—embodied by trailblazing sharpshooters covering the land with their fiery spirit, as they ride freely casting their shadows. As time moves, some of these shadows are forgotten, and some, have never truly been recognized. Throughout history, the narrative of an African-American cowboy has seemed to be overlooked. Few photos and stories exist of these legends, but it only touches the surface of what it was truly like to live in those times in the midst of discrimination. Inspired by The Negro Cowboys written by LeRoi Jones and Philip Durham, we wanted this photoshoot to continue the revival of the uncommon nostalgia about  the Western Times.

Hegemony’s Requiem

An interpretation of losing one’s identity to the corruption of power, wealth, and control. The lure of authority is entrancing, for it often leads to an unquenchable craving for more while your soul starves in the midst of abandonment. Division enters as one becomes locked with the concept of dominion, for as you move closer towards power, you begin to lose yourself in the process, leaving behind an unfulfilled empty reflection.
